Hello all parents and players, Boys Soccer is currently in a holding pattern as we wait for guidance regarding Season C sports. Currently we have no access to Doherty or D11 facilities. I am hoping to know more in the upcoming weeks and will pass any and all pertinent information along. Some friendly reminders below: -Season C is tentatively scheduled to start March 1st -All players will need paperwork, physicals and athletic payments and donations made to business office once they start collecting for Season C. Please try and plan ahead!! -GRADES ARE MOST IMPORTANT AT THIS TIME. Please finish the semester strong and stay on top of all assignments. If you are behind you need to reach out to your teachers! We will have a Webex Meeting Wednesday 12/16 at 6:00 to connect before break. Doherty Men's Soccer 2020

Hello all parents and players!

I hope everyone is well and getting adjusted to school.  Just a few updates to pass along.  We are looking to do a couple team builder events over the next couple months.  Likely a team hike in September and a Marcos Pizza party in October.  Once I have the finalized dates I will pass them along.

Reminder that end of November we will be placing teams into indoor sessions at the Soccer Haus.  I will organize those teams end of October.  Players interested in being part of those sessions please let me know via email or in our Heja app.  We already have 1 team full.....

I have requested weight room time starting in December twice a week, off over Christmas break and then back at in January.  We will likely be limited to groups again very similar to the summer sessions.

I have also requested field space at GB starting end of January twice a week going up to the start of the season which is March 1st.

I apologize for the general nature of this email, but I wanted to give everyone an idea of what to expect over the next several months.  Once again as I start finalizing dates and receive confirmation of dates and times I will communicate accordingly.

Thanks!

Doherty Men's Soccer 2020

Hello all Parents and Players,

I want to take this time to give everyone a general idea of what to expect over the next several months heading into the Winter.  After discussions with the coaching staff we have agreed to give the players this Fall off from any Doherty Soccer sanctioned events.  We have a group of players playing for their respective clubs and I want to allow those players to be able to commit fully to those teams.  Additionally, our season isn't slotted to start until March 1st.  Many of our players made the commitment all summer long 3 days a week to be part of our off season programs and I don't want burnout by training for the next 7 months.

The plan at this time will be to take September - November off.  During that time players who will be playing club will continue to play with their teams.  Players not playing club who want to continue to play are encouraged to play indoor.  Once we hit the end of November start of December timeframe we will register Doherty indoor teams at the Soccer Haus.  We will field ONE Varsity level team in the top HS League, ONE JV level team in a lower HS league and ONE Junior Sparta team which will play in U12-U14 league.  We will keep the teams together and roll them in back to back sessions heading into the Spring season.  The intent is to use these indoor sessions as pre-season warm up.  Again, there will be no practices, only games.  Our goal in setting this up is to allow players to stay loose, have fun and just go play!  Once we hit February we will look at putting together a quick 2-3 week camp outside at Gary Berry in which we will progress into more serious sessions and look at forming teams heading into the season.

I do appreciate everyone's patience.  As we progress into the school I will communicate any and all changes to the upcoming season!

Thanks

Doherty Men's Soccer 2020

Hello all parents and players,

It is with a heavy heart that I have to relay to you all that the Fall HS soccer season has been postponed and moved to Spring 2021.  The coaching staff and I were very much looking forward to getting the teams out on the pitch and we couldn't be prouder of the time and effort they put in over the summer.  Unfortunately this is something we have no control over.  All practices moving forward are canceled and will have no formal team events until the Winter at the earliest.  At this time I don't know when we can start training for the Spring or even how it will look.  There is a lot of uncertainty at the moment.  Players interested in playing in the Spring will still need physicals and all the paperwork, but I would hold off an making any payments for the time being.

Players interested in doing Boy's Cross Country or Boy's Tennis please let me know as they are in need of people.  I can get you pointed in the right direction.  Anyone interested in playing indoor soccer needs to let me know ASAP.  I just spoke with Soccer Haus and they are putting together a new HS indoor season in the next coming weeks.  Games will be streamed on Youtube, t shirts and a Trophy for the Champs!!  The cost is $750 and rosters of 10.  I will not chase players down.  If they are interested they just need to let me know and once I have enough for a team I will get them registered.  Each player will need to pay their portion.....roughly $75 per player.  I am still waiting on dates and times, once I have that I will pass it along!

Regarding Club Soccer.......I know we have a solid group of club players represented at Doherty.  I am not sure how the Fall and Spring will play out, but I do know CHSAA will allow players to do both.  That said, as the HC of Doherty I will work with all club players in order for them to do both if that is what they choose to do.  More to come regarding Club Soccer I'm sure!!  In the meantime everyone stay out of trouble and stay on top of your grades!

Thanks,

Doherty Men's Soccer 2020

Hello all parents and players!

Our summer camp officially ends this Friday.  I am very happy with the effort and dedication that everyone has demonstrated thus far.  We have had 2 months together which says a lot about these player, parents and coaching staff.  I am looking forward to the Fall season!

Come August time will fly and there will be a lot of communication from me and I imagine plenty of changes to our schedules.  At this time I am still waiting for confirmation from CHSAA in regards to when our season will start and how many games we will play.  During my last conversation with our Athletic Director it was relayed to me that Fall Sports sounds like a matter of WHEN not IF.....that is a good thing.

All Fall Sports paperwork, payments and donations need to be made to the business office ASAP.  The link below will take you directly to the Athletic Paperwork Checklist.  I have also uploaded our August schedule to Varsity Soccer Team Files.  The second link below will take you directly to our team files.  Please be aware that the August Schedule is SUBJECT TO CHANGE.

Paperwork - https://dohertyathletics.org/main/filesLinks/

August Schedule - https://dohertyathletics.org/main/teamfiles/id/24082/seasonId/4471824

I highly recommend any and all players interested in playing this Fall to attend training next week as well as tryouts.  After tryouts on 08/10 and 08/11 we will form teams and the expectation at that time is attendance at every session and game.  You are expected to communicate with the coaching staff if you cannot attend.  Acceptable reasons for not attending would be if you are sick or showing any Covid symptoms or if you have a pre planned family engagement.  Unacceptable reasons include birthdays, work, out of town, vacations, transportation or last minute family engagements.  Everyone has the schedule so please plan accordingly.

Parents.....there will be a Fall Sports Parent Meeting on 08/12 6pm @ DHS.  Please plan on attending!!!  We will re hash program expectations, donations, schedules and community outreach.  Speaking of Community outreach I have been in touch with Colorado Springs Parks and Recreation in regards to trail cleanup.  Once we have our game schedules I will be coordinating with them.

Lastly please see some key dates below:

08/10 - Tryouts 6-8 pm GB Stadium

08/11 - Tryouts 6-8 pm GB Stadium

08/12 - Fall Sports Parent Meeitng 6pm DHS

08/14 - All paperwork, payments and donations due BUSINESS OFFICE

08/15 - Scrimmage 1-4 pm GB Stadium

08/20 - Doherty vs Coronado JV 430pm / V 6:30pm GB Stadium

Thanks!

Doherty Men's Soccer

Hello all!

Next week sessions will be M 7-9 pm GB south, W 7-9 pm GB stadium and F 6-8 pm GB south.  I am working with the AD for an August schedule and we will likely start to train at Doherty HS in addition to GB.  Due to the coaching staff's work schedule's I will continue to go with the later training time as long as we can until daylight savings.  Once I have an August schedule I will send out a communication.

Camp at this time is voluntary but highly encouraged.  Once school starts it becomes MANDATORY.  I understand there are a lot of moving pieces at the moment, but at the end of the day the program needs to stick together and be committed to one another.  Every parent needs to understand the expectations for the upcoming Fall season as it appears the start of the school year will be different.  That said, at this time we are still planning on training after school in the evenings and still have games on the schedule.  Players are expected to attend practices and games regardless of the online or hybrid approach that the district will ultimately decide.  For this reason it is imperative that all parents attend the Fall Sports Parent Meeting on August 12th 6-8 pm in the DHS gym (this could turn into a Zoom/WebEx Meeting).

Lastly, please refer to the links below.  The top link will take you directly to all the required paperwork needed to register for Fall Sports.  The bottom link will take you directly to our Soccer page team files where you can find our parent donation letter.  Please, parents and players take the time to read that.  I cannot stress how important donations are to our program.  We can only get out what we put in on and off the field!!!

Hello all parents and players,

This is our last week of conditioning as we will be taking the week of July 4th off.  We will be at Gary Berry M and W this week from 6-8 pm.  We will be off from 06/26-07/05.  Starting 07/06 we will have field training sessions M W F from 6-8 pm.  I am still waiting on the final Gary Berry schedule for July, but we will either be at Gary Berry of Doherty.  Once I have the final schedule I will pass that along.  It is important that all players continue to stay fit during our break so I will be uploading some workouts later this week.  In the meantime if you aren't at Gary Berry this week please continue to go on runs and do circuits at the house.  All players will need a physical along with some other paperwork.  It is a good idea to schedule physicals now!!

Thanks,

Hello all,

Things have changed slightly this week.  We are now rolling with 1 group of 25 players.  Players who were in the prior Blue and Green groups are now combined into one Sparta Group and we have added 8-9 additional players who wanted to participate.  Please note that all players who replied back with interest in participation were added to groups for this week and have been notified either via text or on our Heja app.  If you are not in a group please continue to do workouts on your own.  Both the weekly workout 3 and Pre Season Camp week 3 schedule's have been uploaded to Doherty Athletics team files.

Hello all,

Weekly Workout week 2 and Pre Season Camp week 2 schedules are out and uploaded to Doherty Athletics under team files.  Blue and Green groups will train at Garry Berry M, W and F this week 6-8 pm.  Next week we will likely be able to have larger numbers and we will look to get more players involved!  More to come on this and I will communicate once I know 100%.  Great work to all those players who have been doing workouts on their own.  I have already seen improved times after 1 week.

Doherty Men's Soccer 2020

Parents and players,

For those of you on the call this evening thank you!  I appreciate everyone's patience as we navigate through these phases of re opening HS athletics.  I wanted to take this time to provide a recap of what was discussed.

1.  We will Return to Play in accordance with the D11 Return to play policy which is uploaded to Doherty Athletics under Team Files.

2.  We are limited to groups of 10 including coaches.  At this time we have 2 groups and have reserved times at Garry Berry Stadium M, W and F.  Players who are assigned to groups have been notified.  If you haven't been assigned a group please continue to do the weekly workouts that will be uploaded to Doherty Athletics.  Pre Season Camp workouts at Garry Berry will be very similar to the weekly workouts.  Our hope is that once guidelines loosen up a bit we can add more players to our Pre Season Camps at Garry Berry.

3.  Coach David and I have sent out Heja invites to players.  The app is free and moving forward will be one of our main tools of communicating to players and updating schedules.  I will also continue to provide updates through Doherty Athletics.

4.  Regardless whether or not players are participating in the Pre Season Camp at Garry Berry or doing Weekly Workouts on their own, it is important that each player reports a timed 2 mile run once a week to either Coach David or myself.  I am keeping a log!

5.  Players.....please communicate when you have questions or cannot attend a camp session.

Thanks again!

Doherty Men's Soccer 2020

Hello parents and players,

Please take time to read this email in it's entirety as there is important information to pass along.  Our upcoming preseason camp has a lot of moving pieces and some crucial items that we all need to go over together.  For that reason I have scheduled a WebEx Meeting for 06/02 from 6-7 pm.  Some players may see this in their email, for others I will post the link and meeting passwords at the bottom of this communication.  It is IMPORTANT for players to attend this meeting as we must all be on the same page moving forward.  I am excited to get the ball rolling so to speak and everyone should be proud to be part of D11 as we blaze the trail moving forward.  At this time we are the only district with plans in place.  The D11 plan is very precise and thorough and is in place for the well being of the student athletes first and foremost.

The coaching staff is still finalizing our plan and I have another meeting with the AD Monday.  Schedules for Gary Berry stadium are also being finalized Monday so our hope is to have a final Pre Season Camp schedule with dates and locations in place next week sometime.  As you will see in our WebEx, the Pre Season Camp will be much different than in the past and we will be limited in numbers for the time being.  As the summer progresses we will see guidelines change and we will adapt.  Due to the limited numbers we are permitted to have contact with I will send out weekly workout's for all players in the program.  As I mentioned, not every player will be able to participate in groups until we are allowed larger numbers and things eventually open up more.  Weekly workouts will be different every week and are exercises each player can do on their own.  The expectation is that all players regardless if they are having physical contact or not are conditioning on their own and being accountable for their own fitness.

Week 1 workout is uploaded to team files.  You will see Wednesday workout is a live meeting via WebEx.  I will lead that days circuit and hopefully not hurt myself!!!  The link for that WebEx will be sent out the day before.  Please see the below links and passwords for Tuesday's WebEx meeting.  If you cannot attend please don't hesitate to reach out!

Thanks,

Adam Foulk - HC Doherty Men's Soccer

Hello all players and parents!

There has been a lot of recent changes in regards to our Pre Season start date and when coaches can have contact with players as well as how many players can attend a session.  At this time I do not have a confirmed start date for our Pre Season weights and conditioning.  I will be on a WebEx meeting tomorrow with other coaches and Athletic Director's.  I will have much more solid information to pass along soon!  In the meantime hang in there and keep checking emails from Doherty Athletics, also check us out on Instagram @ doherty_mens_soccer and on Facebook @ Doherty Mens Soccer.  Once I know for certain when and what we can do I will let everyone know.  If we cannot have contact next week I will be sending out a weekly conditioning workout via email and I will post that document to our team files.

Thanks again!

Doherty Men's Soccer 2020

Hello all parents and players,

Please read the following email as it has pertinent information.......

I want to take this time to reach out to everyone during these strange and historic times.  The next several weeks will be filled with uncertainty and stress for many of us.  It is times like this that build character and I'm certain that we will all push through this adversity stronger than before.  All student athletes who are part of the Doherty Men's Soccer program are expected to be leaders during this time.  Be a leader at home, in your community and as a STUDENT.

Please stay on top of your grades.  Now is a good time to get caught up on missing work, do not take the next several weeks off !!  What you do now will impact eligibility in the Fall.  I urge you all to work with your teachers and do whatever they ask of you during this time.  Be patient with them and understand that this is a new and stressfull situation for them as well.  Communication is key, be your own advocate, be proactive and use this time wisely.  "Student" comes first in our program and I ask you to please not put yourself in a position later on down the road that will adversely impact yourself, your team and the program.

As of right now our Preseason weights and conditioning is scheduled to begin June 1st at Doherty High School in the weight room M, W and F 6-7:30 pm.  The coaching staff understands some families may travel during this time and that is fine, all I ask is for you to reach out and let us know.  For those of you who work please do what you can to adjust your work schedules accordingly.  If you are in town the expectation is that you attend these sessions.  The schedule along with more details is uploaded to Doherty Athletics-Fall-Soccer-Boys Varsity-Team Files or you can click on the attached link https://dohertyathletics.org/main/teamfiles/id/24082/seasonId/4471824.

As we move forward everyone please understand that schedules and timelines may change.  It is very important that all players in the program in addition to their grades stay on top of their own development.  In case we get a late start to our preseason it will be imperative that players are fit and ready to hit the field.  I will attach several links to some at home workouts with and without the ball.  All these exercises can be done in a garage or bedroom.  The more work you can do now the better off we will be come Fall.
