Good morning Golfers and your amazing parents!
There are a few end of the season reminders that I have for you. First, and most importantly, I am so thankful for the wonderful support you have provided all season. Thank you so much for the gift cards and the beautiful plant!! It always takes me some time to get used to no practice or tournaments. I hope that the boys have gotten caught up with all their tests and assignments!!!
Mrs. Leasure is requesting that you look for Dare2Coach in your inbox. This is the new version of the evaluation process that allows you to evaluate the DHS Golf Program. Please take this opportunity to fill out this questionnaire as soon as possible.
As I had mentioned in my last correspondence, Peterson Space Center has decided to close their golf facility. At this time, we have secured a position at Cherokee Ridge with six other teams. We are continuing to try to secure another course that affords us the opportunity to work on the range, chipping, and putting plus adequate time on the course. Cherokee Ridge is very crowded and is well utilized by the public!!!! If any of you have connections at any other Golf Courses please let me know and If you have a contact name and phone number, I will contact them.
CONGRATULATIONS TO JACKSON THEILER FOR BEING SELECTED FOR THE 2ND TEAM ALL LEAGUE!!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS TO NICK STINSON FOR BEING SELECTED FOR HONORABLE MENTION ALL LEAGUE!!!!
I will let you know when Christie Decker has our team pictures ready for me to distribute to you!!! My gift to you!!! I will probably have them within the next two weeks.
JUST A REMINDER ----Butterbraid sales go through next Wednesday, October 27th. Please notify Dana Stinson if you have questions!!! Thank you all for the support with this fundraiser!! We have had a few parents ask if they can send a donation instead of selling Butterbraids. Yes, of course, this would help a great deal. Any questions just call me – Cheri 440-4812.
I will keep you posted on the success of the fundraiser!!!! THANK YOU DANA FOR ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT!!! YOU ARE AN AMAZING LADY!!!!!!!!
I want you all to know how much I appreciate you!!!! Every coach should be so lucky!
Good Sunday morning wonderful golf parents and your families.
This will probably be my final letter for the 2021 Boy’s Golf Season. PLEASE RESPOND IF YOU HAVE NOT YET RESPONDED TO ME ABOUT THE BANQUET THIS WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 13th at 5:30 PM AT FARGO’S PIZZA. I need to give Fargo’s with a number of attendees Monday morning. I have heard from 4 families. I must know if you cannot make it – OR if you are coming, how many of you are coming!! Send a text to 719-440-4814 or e-mail to email@example.com. I provided all of the information about the banquet in last Sunday’s letter.
As a reminder, our team pictures are on Thursday, October 14th immediately after school. Come to the west side of the school to the glass doors leading to the gym immediately after school on Thursday. All players must wear your shirt for the picture. This is the picture that goes into the yearbook. Following the pictures you will need to turn in your shirts and jackets.
Thank you for responding!!! Cheri
Here is the information about pictures and our banquet!!!!
This year’s boy’s golf celebration will be held at Fargo’s Pizza on Wednesday, October 13th at 5:30 PM.
We will be seated on the main floor all of the way to the right behind the beverage bar. You may order pizzas, beverages, and the salad bar from the ordering area on your right as you enter Fargos.
I will bring a cake for dessert!!!
Pictures will be taken on Thursday, October 14 immediately after school. We will meet outside of the gymnasium doors at 3:15 on the east side of the building. If you have any questions just give me a call at 440-4812. This is the only time to be in the team picture for the yearbook!!!!
We will also be handing out order forms for butterbraid sales. I will have an additional handout that explains the need for us to build our account for Boy’s Golf. I have been using funds from our girl’s Tennis Club Account. I cannot continue to use their funds.
Lastly, please send me a text to indicate that the golfers and a parent has read this information. Please text the number of people from your family that will be attending the banquet. I need to give Fargo’s a number!!!!
Coaches Rogers, Smith and Keller.
Good Sunday afternoon!!!!
It does not seem possible that our season is over!!! The last eight weeks have gone very fast but have been filled with many competitions for all levels. Golfers, I know how difficult it is to keep up with your academic requirements BUT you must get all of your make-up work completed NOW!!!!! Your academics must come first!!!!! There are 10 of you that have one or more D’s and /or F’s. I am sure that you know what class or classes you have missing assignments or tests in!!!! If you have not seen your grades, call me and I will give you the list of grades for classes that you have a D or F in.
We will be rescheduling our pictures as soon as I receive the information that every one of you has safely returned to school. You will also receive the information about our banquet after I have talked to Mrs. Leasure about requirements about banquets.
This week is homecoming week and the banquet will not be until all homecoming events are over.
A huge thank you goes out to Nicole and Hunter for working the concession stand! Vanessa and Dylan Garza will be working the concession stand on the west side of the stadium on Friday, October 8th at 5:45. Vanessa and Dylan, thank you also for volunteering to support our golf program !!! Thank you to all of you!
Please bring your golf jackets and golf shirts to turn in at the banquet (whenever I can schedule it)!!! We are going to need extra large golf jackets and I will have the uniforms and sizes that we will need for next year.
Last, but not least, your sons have improved a great deal this year!!!! Our Varsity rankings have improved from last years rankings and our top six players have become very competitive!!!!! For the third year in a row, Jackson Theiler has missed qualifying for state by 1 stroke!!! Congratulations Jackson for another outstanding year!!!!
Thank you parents for all of your patience with the issues we all faced getting on to Peterson. Apparently, next year we will have to find a new practice facility. Silver Spruce will be closing!! If you have any connections with other practice facilities, please let me know!!!!
I will send out another information letter about the banquet and the other issues as soon as my questions are answered!!!
Thank you for all of your support and understanding.

Hi wonderful golf parents and Spartan Golfers!! Wednesday, July 28, 2021
Please excuse the repetition in this third welcome letter!!! Several of you mentioned that you had not already read the first two letters. I would like both parents and golfers to read the first two letters to have the information that guides you through the season. So far we have only one new golfer and I need your help with suggestions of possible new or returning Spartans that may be interested in joining our team. We have lost a few of last years golfers due to families moving or school commitments and we really need your help in contacting other students that would like to play golf.
The Dohertyathletics.org website is utilized to transmit all information, lineups and schedules throughout the whole golf season. Please get used to checking the website often and sign up for alerts so that you will know when there are entries.
We have already sent out a great deal of information, PLEASE READ THE first two entries!!! Players, please e-mail your telephone numbers. You will always have the schedule for the next week by Saturday or Sunday evening. Please always read these or you will have no idea how busy your week may be. As I mentioned, there are 2 entries on Dohertyathletics .org that have told you that ALL schedules are on this website. If your parents or drivers have not already sent any changes on their licenses, you must do that right now.
- Practice will begin on Monday, August 2nd 9:00 AM, at the Peterson AFB Golf Course.
- You must have given Coach Rogers the name on your driver’s license,
the number on the license, and your date of birth at least one week ago to be able to get through the gate!! I do suggest that you try to carpool with ottext or e-mail that you have read ALL THREE hers so that your parents only have to come once or twice a week.
- It is recommended that you have a pull or push cart, carrying your
bag and clubs will get really old.
Bring water and no jean shorts. Please wear a collared shirt!! Always be gentlemen on the course, no profanity, BRING YOUR OWN BALLS FOR PRACTICE, and COUNT EVERY STROKE!!!!!!
Last but not least, be gentlemen on the course AND COUNT EVERY STROKE YOU MAKE FROM THE TEE TO THE HOLE!!!! Repair your divots!!
Send me a text or e-mail that you have read ALL THREE E-MAILS!!!!!!
Text me Cheri.firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as you read these. See you all at practice on Monday!!! Have your parents watch for directions to register and pay sport fees!!!!!
Sunday evening, July 25th
Welcome again to Doherty Spartan Boy’s Golf Season!!!!
If you have not read my first letter on Doherty Athletics.org sent out a week ago, please do so now. I have heard from very few of you with any additions to our current list of drivers entering Peterson AFB. I did submit the list from last year and the few new additions that I have received and perhaps your lists have not changed. If your info has changed, please send changes to me immediately! For those of you that have sons that are new to our program, I must have the following information for your friends or relatives that will be bringing or picking them up immediately!!! Last year our coaches had to go to the Visitors Center to pick up the boys and bring them in. We cannot do this. We must get practice started on time which enables our players to have time to warm-up and play at least 9 holes for try-outs. Here is the information that we need immediately!!!! Just text or e-mail to me email@example.com.
Your player’s name:
The driver’s name as it appears on the license:
State of issue:
It takes several days to a week for Peterson to process your information to allow you on base. Please e-mail or text me immediately with the above information!
Any driver (relative or golfer) that is issued a speeding ticket on base will lose their driving privileges on base!!! We will be practicing on Monday through Thursday and occasionally on Fridays when the golf course can accommodate us. Reminder!! The dress for practice will be COLLARED SHIRTS, NO JEANS, SLACKS OR SHORTS ARE APPROPRIATE. Bring water to take with you on the course.
VERY IMPORTANT REGISTRATION INFORMATION!!!
Apparently, it was discussed in the spring that we would be switching to an online system for registration. However, as of right now the site for Doherty is still in the process of being created. We do not know the date that this site will be up and running for parents to go in and register. I am assuming that they will also tell you how to pay your sport fees!! I will let you know as soon as I know anything. In the meantime, practice is still scheduled to begin at Peterson AFB on Monday, August 2nd at Peterson AFB. All fees and paperwork must be turned in before you may practice. Our first Varsity Meet will be the Doherty Spartan Invitational, August 9th at the Colorado Springs Country Club beginning at 1:00 PM. Be at the club by 12:00. Top 4 boys!!

Our coaching staff is so anxious to return to a normal length golf season with almost all of last years players returning. We were delighted with the improvement made by last year’s golfers and welcome you to pick up the paperwork in the Doherty Business Office beginning July 19th. We will all enter through the WEST GATE ONLY!!!! Once school begins I suggest that you pick up the boys in the EAST parking Lot!!! It takes a long time to get out of the West lot. All of our boys are working very hard and both our individual and team scores are really improving!! Our Varsity ladder generally includes the top eight players. The positions do fluctuate slightly but this will give you a better idea of where your players are on the ladder. Our younger players are working very hard and you will notice the improvement in their scores as we progress. Thank you for the hard work and support from all. Be sure to review the tournaments scheduled for September 13th - 16th.
Good evening to ALL of you very patient parents!!!
WE WILL MEET ALL OF THE BOYS TOMORROW AT PETERSON AFB RIGHT AFTER SCHOOL!!!! I know how frustrating this has been but we will practice tomorrow.
I hate to sound like a broken record but we must have ALL Parents fill out the registration on the rSchool’s web application !!!!I will give the boys another copy of the directions. For those of you that explained to me that you had already received a copy of the directions and entered your information! Please call Christina Montoya at 328-6465 and let her know that you have already completed the registration. She will check to see that it was completed and take your names off the list. Thank you for taking care of this!!!!!
Just one more reminder. I have not heard from anyone about ideas for a fundraiser to increase our Golf account. We received the new shirts for our Jr. Varsity that we ordered and I do not want to use our Girl’s Tennis Account to pay for our new golf shirts. Next week is a busy week and I want to remind the boys to keep up with their homework!!!! Thank you for listening to my rambling!!! I feel very fortunate to have such a wonderful parent support group.
Thank you, Cheri
Players and parents,
Below is the list of athletes who have completed their rSchools registration:
|First Name||Last Name|
All athletes who are NOT on this list must complete registration by no later than 9/15. A parent will create an account and register the athlete to complete it. Below is the link and what parents will see on their side.
Good Sunday morning!!!!!
This will be a very short message until I have more information for you!!! Apparently, the gate list that Larry (our connection to entrance to Petersen AFB) turned in to the gate personnel has been lost or destroyed because they assumed that it was only for the month of August!!! Even though I presented our list immediately to the visitor center on last Thursday, they said that nothing could be done until after the Memorial Day Weekend!! I know how frustrated you all must be. Graham, Sue and I are equally upset!! In Larry’s defense, I know that the list that he submitted was dated for August 1st through October 7th.
Until this situation is corrected, we cannot practice! We would not have had practice on Monday because of the holiday.
Here is the list for the Two Varsity meets this week:
Tuesday, September 7th, Shining Mountain Golf Course, tournament begins at 9:00 AM and players should be there by 7:35 AM. Tee times are scheduled due to small range space. We are scheduled from 7:45 – 8:15 on the range.
Wednesday, September 8th, Trojan Tournament at Fort Carson, tournament begins at 8:00 AM and players should be there to warm-up by 7:00 AM. Please remember to bring your student ID’s.to enter gate #5!!! Plan that they may search your car!!
Dana Stinson(Brett’s Mom)
Please let me know if there is anyone that cannot play in either meet!!!!
Good evening Doherty Boy’s Golf Parents. Will you please send me the birthdates of all of our golfers so that I can submit them to the gate officials at Peterson AFB. They only requested the golfers list to have names and now after over four weeks of gate entry they now are requesting all birthdates of our golfers. Right now if appears that we will not be permitted to enter the gates until next Wednesday!!!! I will keep you posted about any changes. Please send this as soon as possible. Cheri 440-4812 or

Attention players and parents,
Each team member MUST create an account and register for golf through the rSchools web application. Students must do this in order to fully participate in golf this season. If you do not complete the registration process, you most likely will not be able to represent Doherty in any golf tournaments until that step has been completed.
To date, the following athletes have completed their rSchools registration:
If your name is not on this list, you must complete the registation process tonight! To register, copy and paste the link below into your Web browser and then click on the green box that says "Doherty High School Athletic and Activity Registration":
Good afternoon wonderful Golf Parents and Golfers!!! August 21st, 2021
Thank you so much for your understanding about the issues that we have had getting your sons to practice at Peterson AFB. I do realize your frustration when one day you are admitted and the next day you are told that you are not on the list. The gentleman that we submit our lists to is doing his best to update these lists daily. I do believe that their lists are finally up to date!!!! Please do let me know if you are still having problems.
I sent out a request for help working the concession stand at Gerry Berry Stadium. All of the current sport teams are assigned to at least two games depending on the number of students involved in their athletic programs. I have only received one reply to my request. Thank you to Dana Stimpson!!! Graham and I have had to work these games in the past and it should not be the coach’s responsibility to perform the team’s responsibility!!! The profits made in these stands benefit our athletic teams. All athletic teams are responsible for enlisting parents to help run these two stands!! It is not an option but a requirement. Please help!!! Additionally, fundraising is a necessary part of our team! We have less than $300 in our account and we need to increase this budget to be able to order necessary items for our players. The last few years we have collected donations to support Boy’s Golf and have been very successful. Shirts, jackets, tournament balls and meals are just a few of the many expenses the program incurs that are above and beyond what is provided. Your athletic fees pay only a small portion of all the entry fees and costs of the golf course where the golf team practices that are charged to the school. My E-mail address is email@example.com or my phone number is 440-4812. I will set up a donation program that will come out this week to collect funds in support of our program.

I NEED YOUR HELP IN VOLUNTEERING TO HELP DOHERTY ATHLETICS!!!!!!!!
One of the commitments that ALL of our teams are asked to participate in is to volunteer to work in the concession stand for two of the football games at Gerry Berry Stadium. Boy’s Golf is responsible for two dates this season.
The first is for TWO PEOPLE to work on the WEST SIDE of the stadium and show up at 10:00 AM for the 11:00 AM football game against Ralston Valley on Saturday, September 25th. One of the two people must be an adult and the other can be an adult or a high school student.
The second date is for TWO PEOPLE to work on the WEST SIDE of the stadium and show up at 5:45 PM, for the 7:00 PM football game against Chaparral on Friday, October 8th. One of the two people must be an adult and the other can be another adult or a high school student.
Please call me as soon as possible if you are available for one of these dates with your spouse or your golfer!!!!! Call Cheri 440-4812 to schedule your availability. Your help will be very much appreciated as Graham and I had to do this last year because there were no volunteers.

Saturday August 14, 2021
Hi everyone. I missed you this morning at the benefit for Dr. Alex. Many of you do not know Dr. Alex and all of the assistance that he has given to our athletic program for many years. We continue to honor him and remember his wife and children that were killed in a flash flood. I hope that we never get to the point that we cannot be thankful for the time and commitment that others contribute to our athletic endeavors!!!
CONGRATULATIONS TO HILLARY SPARTZ FOR BEING OUR ONLY MEDAL WINNER IN TODAYS RACE!!!! Thank you to Joe Spartz and Braeden McCall for supporting our team!
Starting Monday, we will have regular practices that will begin as close to 3:30 as you can get there. Practices will end by 6:00!!! You must count every stroke when you play 9 holes and confirm your scores with your foursome. Several of your team members have mentioned that some players are not counting strokes properly. You will not compete if you cannot be honest!! Remember your foursome keeps track of your strokes as well. I also need to remind you that we must keep up the pace of play. If there is a single or double behind you, you must let them play through. We are guests of Peterson AFB. When you are in the rough you have a 3 minute limit to find your ball. Take a drop and count the stroke for a lost ball!!!! YOU MUST KEEP UP WITH THE FOURSOME IN FRONT OF YOU BY PLAYING READY GOLF! For all of our new golfers, you must attend 5 practices before you may play in a competition. This is a CHSAA regulation. If we find that you are not counting every stroke you will not play in competitions until you have proven to score properly. At practice you will play double par pickup and go on with your foursome. Please help others that you are near you to help them find their balls. Practice like you play in competitions and always play with honesty!!!
As of today we have only one varsity tournament this week!!!! The varsity will play in Canon City at Fourmile Ranch Golf Course on Thursday, August 19th. We must arrive in Canon City at 8:00 AM for warm-ups and the tournament begins at 9:00 AM. Please let me know if your parents are planning to attend and would help by taking another player in their car. The following players will be participating in this Varsity Tournament.
If you are unavailable to play in this tournament, please let me know NOW!!! Brett Boone will be our next player if one of the above cannot attend. Have fun boy’s, this is a VERY unique golf course!!!!
The remainder of the team will practice Monday through Thursday at Peterson AFB immediately after school. If a 9-hole is announced on Wednesday, I will notify those 4 players as soon as I receive the information. Please notify your teachers immediately every week when you are scheduled for either a full day or a half day tournament. Ask for any advanced assignments for the dates that will be gone AND turn them in immediately after you return to school!!!!

Good Sunday morning, August 1st !!!! Welcome Spartan Golfers and your families.
VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THE BEGINNING OF THE GOLF SEASON AND PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE INFORMATION AND RULES.!!!!!
I have tried to call all golf families to inform you about our difficulties with the new online registration procedures!!! There were a few families that I was not able to reach so here is the information for today, Sunday August 1st. Mrs. Leasure will meet you all at Doherty High School tonight on the west side of the school. Enter the Main entrance and Mrs. Leasure will be just inside the main office from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Please bring all your completed paperwork (these forms can all be found on Dohertyathletics.com). Your son’s physical and your fees which can be made only in cash or check today are based on the district free lunch program.
Regular Athletic fee for District 11 is $100.
Reduced lunch fees are $67.
Free lunch fees are $33.
Non-district fees are $150.
If you wish to pay by credit card, you may come to the business office on Monday. Your son can still attend practice at 9:00 AM on Monday if all the remaining paperwork is turned in. I will check their receipts on Tuesday for their credit card purchases or information from Mrs. Leasure.
VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ENTRY INTO PETERSON!!!!!
The ONLY entrance to use for Peterson Air Force is the West entrance off Powers. NOT THE MAIN ENTRANCE OFF PLATTE. I have submitted all of the information (your name as it appears on your license, the state of issuance, your driver’s license number and your date of birth) to Larry Mullis who is responsible to submit your information to the Air Force Base. If your parents have a Military ID Card you do not need to send more than the information that they have their ID. If you have not sent the above information to me, they will not admit them to the base. It takes several days to be processed. I would suggest that you try to arrange carpools with those families that have already been cleared. My cell number is 719-440-4812. If you have questions, please call.
Once you are on base, always obey the speed limits!! Golfers, if you are driving, please, please obey all the speed limits – you will lose your driving privileges on the Air Force Base. One ticket will cause you to lose driving privileges. Please be at the golf course by 8:45 AM. Bring your own balls, clubs, GOLF GLOVE and I recommend a pull or push- cart. After tryouts we will use the range where balls are provided. Bring your own tees, sunscreen, and water. FOLLOW ALL THE RULES OF GOLF. WE EXPECT THIS AT PRACTICE AS WELL AS COMPETITIONS. WE ARE VERY PRIVILEGED TO HAVE PETERSON AS A PRACTICE FACILITY!!!!! DO NOT RUIN THIS FOR YOURSELF AND ALL OF US!!! BE GENTLEMEN OR YOU WLL LOSE YOUR GOLFING PRIVILEGES. No Jeans or Jean shorts. No T- shirts and collared shirts are advised.
It is a privilege to play at Peterson!! Be very polite to the people in the pro shop. The restrooms are inside the pro shop and they sell snacks, water, candy etc.
Follow all of the rules of golf and golf etiquette. It is a privilege to play at Peterson and ALL golf courses. They can always refuse to allow us to practice at Peterson AFB.
A few common sense rules!!
- Be GENTLEMEN NO PROFANITY.
- Play ready golf – do not hold up the group behind you.
- Every time you swing at the ball it counts as a stroke. No do overs on wiffs!
- Be honest always.
- Be gentlemen!
- Play ready golf.
- Always let the public play through unless you are staying up with the group in front of you.
I want to always be proud of you and always make us proud of you.
Your coaches want you always to be honest gentlemen at all times..
Cheri Rogers 440-4812
