XC Camp Week 6: July 13-18

XC Camp Week 6

One month from Monday until the season officially begins.  Make sure you're putting in the miles regularly if you're running on your own. Post on Strava.  Hold each other accountable.

  • Monday: @ Doherty 8-9:15am  then 20-25 minutes on your own at night.

  • Tuesday: @ Palmer Park, Greencrest entrance located at Brenner Place and Austin Bluffs 8-9:15 am, Hill day

  • Wednesday: On own recovery run in the morning and base run in evening

  • Thursday: @Monument Valley North located at Fontanero and Culebra 8-9:15am Speed day.  Chocolate milk and grapes after.

  • Friday: Recovery run on your own in the morning and base run in the evening on your own.

  • Saturday: Long Run on your own.

XC Camp Week 5

XC Camp Week 5, July 6-11

We have had a great showing the past four weeks.  Thank you for your hard work and great ideas in moving forward with the cross country off season.  We will continue to check everyone's temperature and fill out each athlete's questionnaire each practice.  We will also continue wearing face masks to camp and when leaving camp.  We will extend our practices now by 15 minutes in order to introduce our Abs and Core routines.  Please invite your friends, as long as they fill out the waiver and bring it to our camp.

  • Monday: @ Doherty 8:00am-9:15  Base work, team stretch routine, and core routine.  Evening run on your own
  • Tuesday: @Greencrest entrance to Palmer Park, located at Austin Bluffs and Brenner Place 8:00am-9:15
  • Wednesday: Recovery run with running partners on own. Evening run on your own
  • Thursday: @Monument Valley Park North located at Fontanero and Culebra 8:00am-9:15 Speed work
  • Friday: Recovery run with running partners on own. Evening run on your own
  • Saturday: Long run with running partners on own

XC Camp Week 4, June 29- July 4

Great week last week.  Good work posting your runs on Strava and solid effort on the social distancing and wearing of the masks.  Reminder: you must wear your mask at the end of practice when we send you to your cars, and no hanging out in the parking lot after practice.

  • Tuesday: @ Palmer Park Greencrest entrance off of Brenner Place and Austin Bluffs 8-9am

  • Wednesday: Recovery run on your own or with a friend, PM short base run on own

XC Camp Week 3

Last week was a strong week with training as we have been able to meet as a larger group where we supported one another in improving.  This week we continue as we invite new people to our training.  Those who are on vacation, keep up your training on Strava, everyone else, we'll see you throughout the week.

  • Monday: @Doherty on the hill overlooking the track 8:00am-9:00am Base runs

  • Tuesday: @Greencrest entrance to Palmer Park located at Austin Bluffs and Brenner Place, 8:00am-9:00am

  • Wednesday: Recovery run on your own

  • Thursday: @Monument Valley Park North located at Fontanero and Culebra 8:00am-9:00am speed work

  • Friday: Recovery run on your own

  • Saturday: Long Run on your own or with team mates

XC Camp Week 2 June 15-20

XC Week 2

Great first week as we have had 15 regulars showing up at our three locations.  The next three weeks, we will all be meeting at the same locations as we can meet in groups of up to 25 as long as we keep our social distancing, take your temps, have masks to begin and end camp, and you pass the questionnaire daily.  Bring your own water, we have had several of you forget water, don't forget water.  Here's the plan for this week:

  • Monday @ Doherty meet on the hill overlooking the track 8:00-9:00am

  • Tuesday @ Greencrest/Palmer Park entrance located at Brenner Place and Austin Bluffs 8:00-9:00am lock all valuables out of sight.

  • Wednesday recovery run on your own

  • Thursday @ Monument Valley Park North located at Fontanero and Culebra.  Meet at the picnic table near the parking area

  • Friday recovery run on your own

  • Saturday long run on your own

XC Camp Begins Monday June 8

XC Camp Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 8:00-9:00am

Camp/ practices begin Monday June 8.  We collected your waivers last week.  Email Coach Duensing if you didn't turn in your waiver to see when you can turn that in and which group you will run with.

  • Must have a mask

  • Must have own water and cell phone

  • 6 feet apart at all times

  • Arrive on time to your practice location as listed below or you can't practice with us as we will be taking temperatures and answer questions on questionnaire, once that's done we begin practice and no one is allowed to join that day after temps and questions are complete.

  • You are not allowed to switch groups until we make adjustments next week.

Cross Country Summer Training

Summer XC Training

Doherty Cross Country Family,

Welcome to the 2020 Cross Country season.  We spend the Summer months preparing for the ten-twelve week season.  This training consists of camaraderie, general fitness, and miles.  It's a great time to get to know your teammates and the routine we will follow throughout the season including warm up routine, ab and core routines, weekly rhythm of the workouts.  This Summer we have three plans in place.  Depending on D-11, the city, county, state, and CHSAA, we will move from one plan to another.  That plan is found on this website under files TEAM FILES .

  • Download "Strava" Join "Doherty Distance XC" This is where we as a team keep track of your miles.  Everyone with a phone needs to download the free version.  This is the only common running app we will use to keep track of workouts.

  • Download "Remind" App and Join. This is one of four apps we will use to communicate with the team. To join:

    • Send a text to  81010

    • Text this message: @dohertyxc

  • Summer Workout Schedule

    • June-July: workouts will be completed in-person using the D-11 protocol or virtual.  See our schedule in our TEAM FILES

    • August 10 is our first official practice of the Fall.

  • We will share the required forms that must be completed before you are allowed to run with the group
