Week 7 Pre-Season
We had a fantastic intra squad scrimmage Saturday. We finished with a gutsy 4x100 relay after the team was exhausted from the morning events. We are proud of the way you finished. We only have 41 practices until the last chance to qualify for state and 11 weeks until state, 10 weeks until the season is over for 95% of us. You need to be in early season conditioning this week. We have very few opportunities to qualify for state, you must be ready when the opportunity if given to you.
Trust the process and don't cut corners.

Monday: 3:15-5:00 @ Doherty, Sprinters lift then have extensive tempo ladder down workout. Jumpers who are sprinters will participate in this sprint workout.

Tuesday: 3:30-5:00 @ Garry Berry, be dressed for the cold. Sprinters who are jumpers will work from 3:30-4:15 with coach Miller then complete the sprint workout of 3x100, 2x60, 2x40 and starts.

Wednesday: Run on your own, recovery day

Thursday: @ Doherty 3:15-5:00 for Sprinters running Saturday OR @Palmer Park, Greencrest entrance with for sprinters not running Saturday. Distance at Palmer Park Greencrest entrance off of Brenner Place and Austin Bluffs.

Friday: @Garry Berry 3:30-5:00 Sprinters who are jumpers start with Coach Miller then come over to sprinters at 4:15 to work starts.

Saturday: Two meet option, one at Heritage High School in Littleton for no AAU or USATF affiliation and one at Roosevelt High School for AAU registered athletes. Use the link above to find the meet in which you want to compete. You must have your own transportation. Coach Miller will be attending the meet at Roosevelt. No coaches guaranteed at the Heritage meet.

Keep your child home and give Coach Duensing a call in his office at 719-328-7157 or email him at robert.duensing@d11.org . Leave a message with your name, your child's name, and a number to contact you. Our school nurse will contact you to let you know what is needed in order for your child to return to practice.

If you choose to have black compression shorts for your uniform instead, they must be bought from Doherty Track. We had an amazing week of Spring Break practices where we made strides towards excellence. We have four weeks until the season starts, invite your friends who are not competing in CHSAA season C sports. Make sure your physical is up to date and ready to turn in two weeks.

Pre-Season Week 2
16 Weeks until State. Make the decision to do what it takes every day to get the results you want. Our goal is for you to be in mid season shape by April 26. Your coaches will get you there if you put in the work. "Trust the Process." Our process is proven, all we need is for you to put in the work.

Sprinters get in 35 minute routine

10 minutes easy, then 8x 30 seconds threshold/intense running followed by a minute 30 easy/not walking, continue 30 on a minute 30 off for 8 times. Follow this with 9-10 minute cool down easy jog the stretch)

Week 1 Pre-Season
Welcome to pre-season. We have 8 week to get in shape and 17 weeks until the State Track Meet. No physical or fee required for Pre-Season Track

Complete pre-screening at COVID PRE-SCREENING REQUIRED IN ORDER TO PRACTICE

Arrive at practice at3:15 to complete temp checks and divide up before 3:30 practice start time

No Locker room so come dressed to practice outside for all conditions. Wear a mask throughout practice. You will be able to take it off and carry it with you when you are running.

Practice ends by 5:00pm. You must leave the practice site and cannot hang around the parking lot and are not allowed to wait in the building.

Distance and Sprint workouts are posted in case you miss practice. Keep up with your workouts. The March Conditioning workouts are found at MARCH WORKOUTS on this website under files.

Welcome 8th Graders to Doherty Track & Field

Here is some information about our program.
Track & Field
- Head Coach and Sprints Duensing, Head Jumps: Miller, Head Distance: Truex, Hurdles: Chavez, Asst. Distance: Deal, Assist. Sprints: Player, Assist. Jumps: Olmstead, Asst. Hurdles: Chapa Head Pole Vault: Mattison
- Coaches are all certified in first aid, cpr, aed, and concussion. All coaches are certified as CHSAA contracted coaches. Many Doherty coaches are USATF certified and have extensive experience as high school and college athletes.

- Boys and Girls seasons are both in the Spring
- Track is a 12 week season with practices and meets 6 days a week. Practices generally run 3:30-5:30.
- Girls are CSML League Champions 2006. 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, State top 10 2007-2011
