Announcements and Important Events
Doherty High School expects our SPARTANS to display good character at all times, to include appropriate choices surrounding the unlawful or otherwise improper use or possession of controlled substances, alcohol, and/or tobacco. Our student-athletes will be held to the standards as outlined in the Colorado Springs School District 11 Handbook.
Over the next couple of weeks, you will notice the Doherty HS head coaches meeting with the returning players from their programs. These meetings are specifically designed to have our student-athletes sign a "Colorado Springs School District 11 Athletic Handbook - Controlled Substances, Alcohol, and Tobacco Policy" document. I encourage parents and guardians to review this document (located under "Files & Links" off of the home page of www.dohertyathletics) with your student-athlete. This policy is not a new policy but rather a concerted effort on behalf of the Doherty Athletic Department to hold our student-athletes accountable to the policy. All of our student-athletes that have played at DHS have signed a document stating they have read and understand the Colorado Springs School District 11 Athletic Handbook. With us having our kids sign the current document, we are sending a message to our community that this policy is important to us and we will not tolerate our student-athletes using controlled substances, alcohol, and tobacco. This include vaping!
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions or concerns.
